Battery storage developers have voiced concerns over plans for a new support scheme.
Ofgem recently said the proposed cap and floor regime would enable new Long Duration Electricity Storage (LDES) projects to be built in the UK for the first time in 40 years.
However, a group of developers have argued that the plans introduce “biases” against battery energy storage systems which could cost consumers £2.2 billion.
In an open letter the developers cite a report by LCP Delta which says lithium-ion batteries are the most competitive LDES technology.
They said the analysis sets out concerns that BESS will be prejudiced against due to the lack of a level playing field.
